Disability Festival creates memories that last for ever

Young people from across England and Wales visited the Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre this week for the latest PL/BT Disability Football Festival.  Participants from 28 clubs were able to showcase their abilities and skills in a memorable event that celebrates the work of the PL/BT Disability Programme.

 

Janet Jackson to perform at Saudi Arabia festival

As reported in last week's Festival File, Nicki Minaj was scheduled to perform and headline at Jeddah Fest, a new Saudi Arabian festival on July 18th.  The festival is a new initiative in the Persion Empire, as the country slowly continues to diversify and relieve conservative social restritions, and continue to lessen their reliance on oil.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite fan festival tickets are going now

The game was first announced in 2017 and comes from WB Games San Francisco and Niantic -- which also made Pokemon Go -- under the Portkey Games label. It launched in June, and involves using your phone's GPS to move around the physical world while interacting with AR objects, beasts, points of interest and other wizards and witches on the game map.  "Attendance is limited in order to maintain the best gameplay experience possible," The Harry Potter: Wizards Unite team announced Friday. The fan festival will go from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, or a $40 ticket is also available for purchase that gives access to fans from 9 a.m.

 

Festival Producer SGE is Reorganizing Operations

Synergy Global Entertainment, the boutique festival and concert producer started by John Reese in 1997, “is reorganizing its operations and assessing strategic options” according to a statement sent to Pollstar.  The company had been ramping up in recent years with boutique events for artists including Eddie Vedder, Travis Barker and many others, and recently kicked off a 22-date amphitheatre tour with Circa Survive, Sum 41, The Used and others.

 

Woodstock 50 Update:  It's not looking good...

The trouble appears to have started in late April. Dentsu Aegis Network Amplifi Live, a wing of the Japanese advertising behemoth Dentsu and Woodstock 50's chief financial supporter, abruptly announced the event was canceled. In a widely reported statement, the firm suggested it was concerned about the health and safety of performers and ticket holders. A legal drama ensued.

 

Pitchfork Music Festival Evacuates Due to 'Dangerous Weather Conditions'

After the sky opened up over the festival in Union Park on Saturday (July 20), organizers cited "dangerous weather conditions" as the reason for the evacuation approximately halfway through the second day of the event's programming.  At 7:20 p.m. ET, the festival tweeted: "Gates will open in 5 minutes. You can enter at the main gate on Ashland, Ogden/Washington, or at Ashland/Washington. Music will resume as soon as possible with Stereolab and Freddie Gibbs and then will continue as previously scheduled."

Finding ways to rescue and repurpose food not only trains chefs to be creative but could help save them money.  “Chefs are starting to be a lot more aware of food waste and if you can kind of lasso that in your own kitchen, you can actually change your food costs and make your business more successful,” said Satterfield.
