LP Giobbi Heads Out on R.I.P. Shame World Tour with Sofi Tukker and Wants to Take You on a Journey

“Performing live is a freeing experience. My role is to become a conduit of joy and to help people share in their own joy. It isn't about playing the perfect set and never missing a note on the piano, but rather sharing energy and joy.” -LP Giobbi

There’s no slowing down energetic DJ/pianist/producer/music director LP Giobbi, who is about to head out on the R.I.P Shame World Tour this week with her Animal Talk Collective partner and collaborator Sofi Tukker, bringing her exuberant performance to cities across the US and Canada. An additional LA date has been announced with LP joining Galantis at Shrine Expo Hall on October 18.

With each single, LP sonically takes the listener through a different journey that sees her seamlessly move through various genres with ease and finesse, creating an irresistible carnivalesque vibe sure to get anyone in any particular genre vibing and will get dance floors moving when she’s bringing it on stage. That’s why she’s been co-signed by some of music’s biggest names and brands, providing mixes to Diplo’s Revolution on SiriusXM, collaborating with tech outfits ROLI and Native Instruments, and partnering with brands like Moog, Guitar Center, and Roland.

Her music is high energy and diverse as demonstrated by the wide array of artists and festivals who have invited her on the stage including Diplo, Hotel Garuda, Jax Jones, Madame Gandhi, Moogfest, Hard Summer and Coachella where DJMag named her track “Amber Rose” as "one of its 20 massive tracks at this year’s festival.”

While playing live, LP is always focused on the journey of the dance floor. “I want my live show to be a journey - of dance music, intensity, feeling, highs and lows,” she says. “I’ll always start off playing my piano, then there will be moments of proper dance bangers mixed in with some old school house as well as experimental moments that focus on hardware and making something new in the moment. Oh and lots of ponytail flips!” she exclaims. In addition to LP playing piano, she adds a Roland TR8S Drum Machine and a Roland TB-03 bass line synth. This allows her to get out of the decks and create tracks live in the moment.

On stage, she’ll be sure to drop ‘Dejala Pasar’ featuring uplifting vocal samples, melodic piano, and tantalizing synths, married together with punchy percussion and a pulsing bass line—the perfect intersection of the darkness of tech-house and the brightness of world music.  The tech-house stomper, “Ready to Go” opens with a wailing siren that is quickly followed by Boom Dice’s driving percussion and Giobbi’s mesmerizing piano riff. And "’Slither In,” a storm of deep house bass, tribal drum beats, dark techno breaks, classic trance/electronica piano, chopped sax loops, flutes, and everything in between. She can blend all of this and package it into a seamless hard-hitting dance banger that begs for you to just lose your mind on the dancefloor," says Earmilk.

Trained in jazz piano at UC Berkeley before becoming a self proclaimed “synth warrior goddess” in Los Angeles, LP Giobbi uses her combined knowledge of music theory and sine wave creation to reach the enlightenment afforded by a clusterfuck of inclusivity. Her weapons are charisma, spunk, fearlessness, Pioneer decks, blacks and whites, DAW systems, fields of synthesizers, sequins, feathers and leopard print—and she's not afraid to use them.

She’s shared the stage with everyone from Gallant (providing support for Billboard’s Next Big Sound showcase) to Madame Gandhi (playing synth bass and DJing), Diplo, Hotel Garuda and Sofi Tukker, throwing down her self-produced Afro-Cuban infused piano house tracks with her Korg M1.

When she’s not chasing down pianos to play jazz gigs, or producing, engineering and music directing, you can find her DJing and booking shows for W Hotels as their Music Curator, providing a platform of visibility to woman-identified acts with her initiative, FEMMEHOUSE, and releasing tracks on Sofi Tukker’s new label, Animal Talk (which she also co-owns). You can also jump tits first into her wardrobe with her Giobbi line of shirts and blouses.

FEMMEHOUSE is a new genre. It’s about more than music, it’s about representation—a chance to worship the sacred feminine in all of us by providing and creating platforms for the underrepresented and too often overlooked. FEMMEHOUSE was born of the need for more representation for womxn identified acts. Its mission is to create opportunities for young womxn to enter the artist development channel and foster their growth there. Ticket sales from  lovingly curated parties at August Hall and W Hotel, featuring the foremost womxn driven talent in the business, fund an incubator program that provides free mentorship and electronic music instruction to young, aspiring  producers, DJs, sound designers, engineers and more.
